Out-Of-State Woman Charges More Than $11K With Stolen Credit Cards, Police Say

An out of state woman was arrested for allegedly stealing credit cards from a vehicle in Fairfield County and then charging more than $11,000 in merchandise.

Constanza Maria Baltra-Moreno, 27, of Lawndale, Calfornia, was arrested on Saturday, Nov. 14, after New Canaan Police received a complaint of stolen credit cards from a vehicle that was parked at the New Canaan Mounted Troop, said Lieutenant Jason Ferraro.

 The victim obtained information that her cards were used a short while later at the SoNo Collection in Norwalk, Ferraro said.

An investigation utilizing surveillance video from the stores showed a woman later identified as Baltra-Moreno making the purchases using the stolen credit cards, he added.

The total value of items purchased using the stolen credit cards was over $11,400, Ferraro said.

An arrest warrant was secured for Baltra-Moreno as a result of the investigation for the above charges. 

On Thursday, Nov. 12,  the New Canaan Police traveled to Massachusetts to take custody of Baltra-Moreno who was in the custody of the Massachusetts Corrections Department.

Baltra-Moreno was transported to the New Canaan Police headquarters to be processed.

She was charged with larceny and identity theft and is being held on a $100,000 bond.
